What are the primary eligibility criteria for PGDM courses in India?

 
PGDM [Post Graduate Diploma in Management] is identified as a specific course that is related to the extensive domain of management studies. It is a full time or part time diploma course aimed at educating, training the students with a focus on applications, related to the basic tenets of management principles and techniques in the realm of business growth and success, in their respective fields of specializations. The course is designed in a manner to provide guidance and direction to acquire a fixed set of knowledge, skills and competencies in the diverse functional scopes of management. Thus the course is designed in accordance with an objective to efficiently prepare graduates for facing challenges in their own sphere of practical corporate experience.
 
  • Planning towards PGDM: When it comes to selecting a PGDM course, there are numerous offered by various colleges, universities and institutions all across India. Each college or institute has its own premise of PGDM screening and selection measures. The course is ideally of 2 years duration fragmented into 4 semesters. Candidates who have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in any particular stream with a score of 50% or more (slightly relaxed for students from reserved category) from any recognized central, state-owned, private or deemed university can apply for admission to the course. Admission is either based on merit or is conducted through entrance examination followed by group discussion and finally a personal interview.
  • Pre-defined set of criteria and norms-PGDM Eligibility
  1. The candidate must pass the UG or equivalent Bachelor’s level examination in any stream from an accredited university.
  2. The candidate must score a minimum of 50% marks.
  3. The candidate must not have any prior compartmental failure or a backlog in any subject/subjects at Bachelor or equivalent level that calls for a clearance during the time of taking the PGDM selection examination.
  4. The candidate must have appeared for any MBA Entrance Exam like CAT, XAT, state level CET or as specified by the university.
  5. In addition, to the above mentioned PGDM eligibility criteria, institutes and colleges may also have their own pre-defined set of selection norms (like years of work experience) which the students have to satisfy while taking admission.
  6. Students from reserved category, in order to avail appropriate benefits, will have to produce their relevant reservation certificates that are issued by qualified and competed authorities.
  7. In order to get admission to these PGDM colleges and institutes, students have to pass their respective entrance test by obtaining the qualifying marks.
